Hey, little rat snake! Have you seen my white quail anywhere?
“Um- quail? New phone, who dis?”
Time for the dragon to go inside. Sometimes she tries to hit me with her tail. It hurts.
Big Al and his watermelon that was donated by a child. If I cut up the watermelon, it’s gone in 10 minutes. A whole watermelon gets shoved around for 5 hours.
Gila monster eating lunch. I love Gilas. They’re like little venomous Cookie Monsters!
Garter snake attempting to eat a grey tree frog. The frog escaped.
Meerkat just meerkatin’
A guest pointed out this tiny rabbit that was stuck in Big Al’s exhibit. One false step by a quarter-ton tortoise and this little guy would be TOAST. Was he grateful for the rescue? He was not. He screamed like a baby.
Soggy, bedraggled rabbit released in the woods.
Baby snapping turtles from rescued eggs
Endangered Malagasy Spider Tortoise digging a hole to lay her egg. Please lay your egg. I wanna go home.

We have seriously not been keeping up. You have obviously gone to heaven (missing the first step we hope). Where are you and how did you get this gig?!
Oh boy! A picture of Big Al and my day is made! 😀
I’ve hit the point where I just needed to take a break from the news and just focus on the animals I work with at the shelter and those I foster. I’m woefully “uninformed,” but it has helped my health tremendously. I’ve spent most of my life in activism mode (Union and political/human rights issues) and my body and psyche definitely paid a hefty price.

I have not posted in forever. Politics and this poisonous administration weigh me down. But work is my happy place!
We can understand where you are. The latest gun extravaganza can’t be helping either.

I have to do that sometimes, too. Taking a break from a constant barrage of awful is necessary, now more than ever.
So good to see you back! Love these pics. The meerkat is definitely my fave. So much personality.
Meerkat just meerkattin’ – love it!
